Modesty Blaise seems an odd choice for this week’s Woman’s Hour serial. Wasn’t she that Swinging Sixties cartoon girl, a female James Bond? Actually, it works really well, partly because Daphne Alexander as Modesty makes her bold, brave, beautiful and believable, partly because Stef Penney’s script keeps the action tight and only allows the characters an occasional wink at the listener.
